Yesterday was a beautiful day so we after lunch we headed off to Hunua Falls - about a 40 minute drive from home. There was a choice of walks ranging from 5 minutes to 4 and a half hours - we chose the 20 minute track up to the lookout. Next was the obligatory walk down to the falls for some paddling - Harry stripped down to his undies of course! We hung around for about an hour (it was very hot) then headed home to clean up before heading to the Guppies for a BBQ. A great day.

Good news - Karl is now home, still feeling sore and unable to eat solid food for a while. Looks like a diet of soup, yoghurt and scrambled eggs and gradually work his way up to normal food. All going well he'll go into work on Friday for at least part of the day.

Georgia and I dropped Karl off at hospital at 9am today for some minor surgery. He was pretty nervous but was whisked away by a very friendly looking nurse so I suspect he is going to be better looked after there than he is at home! By 1pm he was out of recovery and back in his room but sound asleep. The kids and I called into see him about 5:30pm and he was apparently feeling quite dizzy and sore and definitely looked a strange tinge of yellow! Still, he's got his own room, his own nurse, a TV, nintendo DS, Blackberry, cooked meals and no kids so I don't feel THAT sorry for him! If all goes well he will come home tomorrow but there is a possibility of one more night if necessary. I'm picking he's hoping for the latter ....

Harry went on a trip today to Parakai Springs. We dropped him off at the organiser's place (Kerrie) at 10am this morning and Harry gave her a big hug because he hadn't seen her in a few weeks. When Karl picked Harry up again at 6pm Harry was a very tired little boy with slightly sunkissed cheeks despite a hat and loads of sunblock. He tells us he went down the waterslide a million times and loved his first ever taste of sour cream and chives chippies!
He's going to sleep well tonight unlike Georgia who has her friend Bethany here for a sleepover. No doubt they'll play in G's room for hours, watch a DVD on a laptop and then talk til all hours. Just what every 10 year old girl loves to do!
While Harry was on his trip today G had her swimming lesson and I finally managed to buy 'The Onedine Line Series Two' after waiting months for a 20% off DVD sale at Whitcoulls and saving up $35 worth of discount vouchers. The result was a $79.99 boxset for $29.99!
While out an about I noticed the new Singstar ABBA for Playstation 2 has been released - hope Santa buys it for me!

Harry was just looking at our new family blog and immediately asked if he could have a birthday slideshow like Georgia. I should have known this would happen ... So here are some pics from his 8th birthday back in July. It was also celebrated at Superbowl with ten pin bowling followed by lunch at Burger King - Harry's favourite!

After much deliberation Georgia decided to celebrate her 10th birthday at Superbowl for laser strike and ten pin bowling with a few of her friends. It was a big day starting at 9am at the hairdresser for a whopping big haircut with the obligatory straightening of course. Next, we picked up the icecream cake then headed home to get dressed! Georgia's ears had been pierced just a few days before after about five years of nagging so everything was looking just perfect for the big day ...
On Friday 14 November Harry was very excited to be presented with a certificate in whole school assembly with around 650 watching! He has been working very hard all year towards his Mathletics Gold Certificate which meant earning an amazing 20 bronze and silver certificates along the way. We are so proud of you Harry!!!
